My First Time

So, I've been reading a lot of New Adult Romance and keeping my fiancé up late since I hate using a book light with my kindle and refuse not to be in the same room as him. It's okay though since we're both teachers on summer vacation!

A few of my favorites romances to read on my kindle are:

Wrecked, by Priscilla West
Beautiful Disaster, by Jamie McGuire
Thoughtless, by S.C. Stephens
The Deal, by Elle Kennedy
That Boy, by Jillian Dodd
and Foreplay, by Sophie Jordan

When That Boy didn't end exactly the way I wanted it to, I thought what if I just tried my own book, then the characters can do whatever I'd like them to. So, I opened my trusty Mac and started writing. It already turns out these characters are not exactly doing what I thought they would, but writing is really fun. Sometimes I struggle with naming my characters and places, but as I was typing a college name just pilled on to the paper! I'd say that's a victory since they don't make College Name Generators like they do baby name generators.

I thought writing would be really difficult- like I'd slog through pages and quit halfway through. I'm writing my first every story, cleverly titled "Untiled: Working Title" and I've already gotten down 5,000 words and that's just in two days! Now I don't know any other writers personally, so I can't compare to anyone else, but that's certainly 5,000 more words than my dog wrote today.

So, what did I do to get started?
I opened the Pages Program on my Mac and said okay Carah- what are you going to do now that you're going away to college. She did a lot of the same things that I did, cried the whole drive because she wouldn't know anyone, went to the student involvement fair, and practiced the route she would take to her classes once school actually started. But then, of course handsome Seth shows up, and she's just dumped her life long high school boyfriend so she can get a feel for what college is really like. What's a girl like Carah to do?

Now, I don't know if Carah is a stupid name, but it's pronounced Care-ah and my Mac loves auto correcting it to Sarah. My backspace might be broken by the time "Untitled: Working Title" is finished.

I'm pretty excited about this new adventure.

Writing Wrap Up:
I'm daunted at even the thought of my very first sex scene, but I'm pretty excited about a break up scene I crafted.

What's your starting out story?
